Bunge Continues Farm Safety Support with BeGrainSafe Sponsorship

Winnipeg, MB, September 16, 2025

The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) is proud to recognize Bunge, a premier global agribusiness company, for its ongoing support of CASA’s BeGrainSafe program.

Viterra, a long-standing sponsor of BeGrainSafe, is now part of Bunge, after its business combination was completed in July. CASA is deeply grateful that Bunge has chosen to continue this commitment to farm safety, ensuring that farmers, firefighters, and communities across Canada benefit from this life-saving program.

“Support from sponsors like Bunge makes all the difference,” says Sandra Miller, CASA’s Executive Director. “Viterra was a long-standing sponsor of BeGrainSafe, and we are so pleased that Bunge has chosen to carry that legacy forward. With their support, we can reach more communities, provide more firefighter training, and help prevent tragic incidents on Canadian farms.”

The BeGrainSafe program provides awareness, education, and training on the dangers of moving grain. The flagship resource of the program is the BeGrainSafe Trailer, a mobile training and demonstration unit that allows firefighters to receive practical, hands-on grain rescue training.

“At Bunge, safety is the top priority across our business, and we are constantly working to build on our strong safety culture to ensure our employees go home safely at the end of the day,” said Kyle Jeworski, head of Canada, Bunge. “That’s why we are pleased to continue our partnership with CASA, which does excellent work providing the necessary resources to raise awareness and provide training on avoiding and minimizing grain hazards in our business.”

Since its inception, the BeGrainSafe program has provided training and demonstrations across Canada, equipping firefighters with the knowledge and specialized tools to conduct grain rescue operations and helping raise awareness about the dangers of grain entrapment. Every August, CASA celebrates BeGrainSafe week, helping spread awareness of grain hazards.
